Maine!
Ok, I would post the next chapter right now, but I honestly think I would fall asleep right here at the keyboard, because it's one of the longer chapters. When I was writing it, I either couldn't find a good place to stop or just forgot to stop altogether. Maybe I'll post it in Maine, where in the first few days I'm there I have energy until at least two in the morning because of the time change. It would only be eleven o'clock in Washington.
Oh, I can't wait to go to Maine. TOMORROW. I literally just finished packing, and my bag weighs 24.6 pounds. The limit is 50 pounds, so I think I'm good.
Today was really fun; my mom, my sister, and I went to the library, Kohl's, Plato's Closet, Old Navy, and Goodwill. Oh, and Starbucks in the morning for breakfast and smoothies and Pop Chips at Jamba Juice for lunch. I got "Caribbean Passion," and it was DELICIOUS. I also got BBQ Pop Chips, and every time I get those I think, "I asked for a bag of chips, not a bag of air," but they were still really good.
At the library we got some books to read on our trip, and the highlight of going to the library was finding Forever Odd, the sequel to Odd Thomas, which is on my top-eight most depressing books of all time. And yes, I actually do have a list for that. It changes frequently.
At Kohl's we went clothes shopping, and we spent a lot of time there trying on bathing suits and stuff. I got a yellow, striped, nautical-ish looking tanktop there, and a red polka-dotted bating suit. I almost got these teal shorts with little white hearts on them, but I decided to save my money for other stores.
And at Plato's Closet, there was a half-off section, where I got three cute tanktops: on is blue with some lace on it, one is blue and white stripes with an anchor formed out of gold sequins, and the other thing was a t-shirt that said, "Redefined" on it.
And at Old Navy I got two pairs of flip-flops, you know, just the cheap ones. I got a dark brown pair, because they will go with pretty much anything, and also a pinkish-corally pair. They won't go with everything that I wear, but I really liked the color. And they were two pairs for $5, so I was like, what the heck. I also got this weird red, white, and blue American flag bow thingy. At first I thought it was a headband, but then it didn't fit around my head. Then I thought it was something that went around your waist, but it didn't fit there either, so I told myself I would figure something out, because I need to be patriotic on Independence Day this year, because I wasn't last year. I just went to enjoy the fireworks...
At Goodwill I got a red, white, and blue tanktop (PATRIOTISM!!!) and a blue-ish tanktop.
Okay, when I go shopping like this, which isn't very often, I go kind of crazy, so if I bored you with my rambling of my new clothes, I'm sorry, I'm just excited. I feel very spoiled though. Very, very, spoiled. I hate that feeling! I'm just grateful I'm able to go out shopping and spending money like that, because a lot of people can't.
In Maine, on Independence Day, there's this 10K that nearly all my family is running, with the exception of my bro, because he's only nine and cannot run 6 miles. Just the other day I ran 6 miles when it was maybe 70 outside and muggy, and I'm still sore. I think I actually feel the new muscle that I built up during that run...kind of weird, but cool. To be honest, that's the longest distance I've ever run: 6 miles. Which is OK, I suppose. I mean, I hope I'm not supposed to already be running half-marathons by the time I'm 14. I only started actually running this year, so...yeah.
Anyway, I'm going to Maine tomorrow. I can't wait for the plane! I love planes, and I'm not sure why. I also love the layovers, if there is a long one, because then you can relax and eat junk food in peace without all the turbulence and noise. Or, of course, you could walk the section playing Taylor Swift on your ukulele for everyone to hear. Hehe...ideas :)
Anyway, I'm SO EXCITED, if you can't tell. There's number of things to do in Maine in the summer:
1. If you live RIGHT by the ocean, like my grandma does, go kayaking with someone and take turns splashing each other with your oars.
2. Get inflatables at the grocery store, blow them up (preferably by your own lungs; it's more fun that way), and then go to the beach and float along the shore and get one of your choice: a sunburn or a tan.
3. Just chillax on your porch and drink some lemonade and eat a nice turkey sandwich or a popsicle, and enjoy the sun, because it better be there.
4. If you have dogs, have them find a stick and just keep throwing it for them until they collapse with exhaustion. Or until YOU collapse with frustration. Either one happens eventually.
5. Just go out for a nice drive. Maine is a peaceful place, and there are many places to go, like Acadia National Park, which is beautiful and awesome.
6. Go to Bar Harbor! The best place in Maine, besides Harpswell/Brunswick. There are cool little shops to visit and delicious restaurants!
7. Do some fine dining! There's Route 66 (Bar Harbor), Moody's Diner (Waldoboro), Cook's Lobster House, and many more! You're in for a treat, no matter where you go! Just don't go to McDonald's. That's lame.
Well, toodaloo! I'll post ASAP!
